So we left Pucallpa in the we hours after dancing the night after dancing the night in the town of Iquitos, supposedly the biggest city that cannot be reached by road. I was done with my work so I just got to enjoy the surroundings and think about life (which is a mixture of good and bad for me...), while erin worked with a lovely lovebird couple of kids that helped her coordinate her interviews.
it's been so long since i've thought about iquitos, so this may be rusty, but in general, it was a lovely temperature: cool at times, burning hot at times, and it lies right next to the river where there were houses floating on it. We got to learn about the wildlife there, and the we got to eat some of it! We tried all the fish ever, alligator, paiche (a huge HUGE fish), and erin got to try something extra special...Mazato (yuka spit alcohol!!!). Gross! but i think she secretly liked it!
we also got to spend some lovely time on the rivers...oh how life is on a lonely wooden boat. we're definitely going to have to come back!
some pictures: on the river in iquitos, erin and the boa, the bufeo! also known as a pink dolphin, me and the boa, the view of the river from the malcon/boardwalk in iquitos.
